Video Experiments
THE ROUGH CUTS
I learned to make videos by making mistakes. My goals were to see what worked and to create something fun I could share with friends. I shot them quickly, studied the finished product, and tried to make the next one better. What you’ll see below is not perfection. You will me pushing myself to make more complex shots and animations.
GREAT ESPRESSO BEGINS WITH FRESH BEANS…
…so I bought a fancy coffee canister for preserving their flavor. Unfortunately, it had a confusing design that threatened the very freshness it promised to provide. I came up with a solution and made a video about it.
SPORTSMANSHIP AND SHADE
When Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski began the 2014-2015 season with 983 wins, it was only a matter of time until he hit the 1,000th mark. As a UNC grad, I loathe Duke. But somehow Coach K’s recruits play the best basketball of their careers under him, so I admire that. I shot this video on January 25, 2015, when Duke played St. John’s at Madison Square Garden for the big win. I had a friend who was at the game, and I swallowed all my pride to make this for her the morning of and send it to her after the game.
MR. PRESIDENT, WE HAVE NO PEANUTS
I have a friend here in Atlanta who loves chocolate covered peanuts. One day, she complained to me they were nowhere to be found. Given that Jimmy Carter was a peanut farmer from Georgia before he was president, he seemed like the perfect person to help. I had just built my shooting table and was excited to use it, so I turned the quest to find them into my first video.
